ELEMENTARY/SECONDARY EDUCATION ACT (ESEA) 

The Obama administration’s blueprint for reauthorization the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is now available for review. What we see in this blueprint is even greater reliance on standardized testing, continued instability in funding to implement these changes and little that is based on solid research and forged through collaboration.

Teachers and other education professionals who work in our public schools need support and to be part of turning around struggling schools. Instead this federal effort, like so many we have seen in Florida, scapegoats teachers and makes them accept sole responsibility for outcomes on these tests without a hint of authority or input on the overall strategy.
